Hugh arrived at Maggs aged 21, working firstly under Julian Browning in the Military department before then managing the department after the incumbent decided to take the lesser travelled path from bookseller to churchman.

He celebrated his 30th birthday by moving into the Travel department, the department that he has headed since 1984. Hugh brings his expertise to bear on all areas of Travel and exploration.
