Euphemia Franklin
Front Desk & Japanese Books
Euphemia joined in 2021 while completing her master’s degree in History of Design at the V&A and Royal College of Art. Based on the front desk, she is usually the voice on the other end of the phone and the first person to welcome visitors to Bedford Square. As the social media manager, she takes daily dives into the wide-ranging stock and can sometimes be found filming books next to the front window.
Working with Dr. Titus Boeder, Euphemia has compiled a number of themed catalogues, including Aspects of Tea in Japan, Modern Japanese Literature and Paper-making and Printing in the World of Mingei. In 2023 she undertook a course in Early Modern Japanese Palaeography at Cambridge University, and continues her studies through cataloguing books from the Edo period.
She is fluent in Japanese and specialises in Far Eastern books.
