Churchill compliments Mallet's letter to the Times and acquiesces to Mallet using a letter of Churchill's: "I am sure there will be no objection to your using the letter to which you refer. I am very glad you liked [holograph: "my line"] about India. Why don't you take the field on the subject in one of your excellent letters to the Times?" Mallet has added an exclamation mark and comment adjacent to "I am glad you liked my line about India", saying, "not quite that. Ch M."

Mallet frequently wrote letters to The Times, often on Liberal subjects.

Folds and a one inch closed tear at right edge (not affecting legibility), otherwise near fine.

Provenance: the Mallet family, by descent.
