Fine.
Described by Nicky Oliver as 'a beautiful book essentially about not conforming to the norm or what is expected of you and learning to “fly” to the beat of your own drum. I wanted to create a binding that mirrored this deep but gentle tale'.
Bound with 'a flat back structure. Silver gilt edges with contrasting, applied leather end-bands. Flyleaves and edge-to-edge doublures are hand printed. The printing plate used was handmade – each seagull shape was cut out of stencil board and mounted onto thin card, inked and pulled through an etching press. The design was duplicated onto the front and back boards by using a die block and one seagull was blocked using silver foil on the front cover.' (Nicky Oliver)
