Nicolas Bion (ca. 1652-1733) was a French cosmographer and maker of mathematical and astronomical instruments, appointed Ingenieur du Roi pour les instruments de mathematiques (king’s engineer for mathematical instruments) to Louis XIV. The Usage de Globes was his most important publication, an important text-book first published in 1699, and much reprinted over the course of the 18th century, with this sixth edition appearing in 1751.
The maps include the world, four continents, regional maps of Europe and engravings of celestial and terrestrial globes.
